Welcome to my curated list of tools and resources for therapists to support ethical, efficient, and integrative clinical practice.
Some of the links highlighted below are affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you if you choose to sign up or make a purchase. These are resources I personally use and recommend in my own practice.
Business & Practice Management Resources for Therapists
Found Business Banking: A modern banking platform designed for small business owners and clinicians in private practice. Found makes it easy to track income, automate tax savings, and categorize business expenses.
When you sign up with my link, you’ll receive $20 after spending $100 from your account.
Sessions Health: After switching from SimplePractice to Sessions Health, I noticed immediate improvements in functionality, cost, and client experience. Sessions Health is intuitive, HIPAA-secure, and much more affordable.
Use my referral link to get your first month FREE (you can trial it with up to 3 clients).
Thrizer for Therapists: Thrizer makes out-of-network billing simple and stress-free for you and your clients. Thrizer automatically submits claims, tracks reimbursements, and saves hours of administrative work. I found the learning curve can be a little steep at first, but I am hoping some of the issues with pulling OON info improve over time.
Use my link to cover the first $2500 of transaction fees.
Google Workspace: I highly recommend Google Workspace for therapists and small practice owners because it keeps communication, scheduling, documentation, and collaboration streamlined in one secure place. Google Workspace also offers the ability to sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), making it HIPAA-compliant for handling protected health information.
Use my unique link and get 10% off your first year.
American Express: I recommend the Amex Delta Business Card because it’s a great fit if you fly even a few times a year and want your spending to actually earn you something. I like that you earn points for flying, that upgrades are available, and that customer service is consistently strong. Amex also makes it easy to move money around when you’re paying the card, especially if you keep funds in a high-yield savings or checking account and want quick, smooth transfers.
Use my link to get 60,000 bonus points upon approval.
Wishpr: Are you sick and tired of being behind with your progress notes, blog posts, newsletters, or other written content? Are you opposed to using AI programs that record your sessions in order to streamline your documentation? Then Wispr flow could be a great new software for you. It is HIPAA-compliant, mobile, and computer-friendly. You can try it free for 2 weeks.
With my link, you get unlimited words for one month!
Professional Development Resources for Therapists
Cultivating Healers: If you’re a BIPOC clinician seeking an inclusive community that honors your identity and resources for therapists, I cannot recommend it enough! As a Black woman therapist, it is refreshing and grounding to be in a space where so many other professionals hold your identity and share your values. Brave Providers: I‘m so excited to share my affiliate link with you so you can learn more about The BRAVE Trauma Therapist Collective, an online community membership for trauma therapists to get the support they deserve! Brave is an online membership community designed specifically for trauma therapists like us. It’s a safe space where we can connect, share, learn, and grow together.BRAVE is all about ease and equity in access to support for trauma therapists, which is why you get FULL ACCESS to all the amazing supports for just $12 a month! 🤩 That means you can hop on a live call, connect asynchronously 24/7, and access everything in the resource library any time you need it. I hope to see you there!
Clinicians of Color – Having a safe space as a Black therapist can be hard to find. That’s why you’re invited to join Clinicians of Color on Mighty Networks—a supportive community created just for therapists of color. Connect with peers, grow your private practice, and access clinical trainings (some with CE credits). This space also offers self-care resources to help you stay grounded and well. Whether you’re here to build your business, deepen your skills, or simply be in community, you belong here. Memberships start at just $9 a month. Join us!
FeelGuide – Most therapist referral tools were built by people who have never actually sat across from a client in urgent need. FeelGuide was founded by Brian Dixon, a co-founder and practicing clinician who got tired of watching clients fall through the cracks of broken referral systems to address this gap. FeelGuide is a Black-owned, therapist-built platform that finally treats clinical referrals like the high-stakes hand-offs they actually are. Every clinician carries a Rapport Score built from real trust signals: referral outcomes, response time, peer endorsements, and verified credentials. No more posting into Facebook groups and hoping someone qualified answers! I recommend it because warm handoffs save lives, and because I believe in putting my dollars and my referrals where my values are. Founding members are locked in at a lower rate than $19 per month. I hope to see you there!
Kin in Practice is a dedicated professional network and business solution built specifically for Black mental health providers, including psychotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and nurse practitioners. Founded to combat isolation within the mental health field, it provides a supportive community where practitioners can consult, share referrals, and lift each other up for free. Additionally, Kin in Practice partners with organizations and communities by providing a vetted, national network to seamlessly connect individuals with the right Black clinical professional without the guesswork.
Christ in Private Practice is a premier professional platform designed for Christian mental health clinicians who want to integrate their faith into private practice with integrity, discernment, and ethical clarity. It provides a thoughtful space for therapists to navigate complex clinical boundaries, business decisions, and professional standards without compromising their biblical convictions. A new offering from this platform is the Faith & Consultation Circle, a dedicated community and structured consultation space where practitioners come together to examine ethical gray areas, share insights, and support one another in practicing responsibly. As a proud founding member of the Faith & Consultation Circle, I highly recommend this network to any Christian therapist looking to lead their practice with confidence and wisdom. I hope to see you there!
Open Books Accounting provides exceptional, personalized financial management that goes far beyond traditional bookkeeping. Working with Lorin has been an absolute game-changer and a true asset to my business. She is incredibly knowledgeable, deeply helpful, and brings a refreshing, personable approach to financial management. One of my favorite features is the custom video overview she provides of my financials, which breaks down the numbers clearly and makes data truly actionable. If you want an accountant who is both a top-tier expert and a joy to partner with, I cannot recommend Lorin and Open Books Accounting enough!
TherapyRising: After getting scammed, I’m so grateful to Q at TherapyRising! He brought the vision of the site to life. He was always kind, responsive, and informative. I cannot recommend them enough. His prices are reasonable and require a $79 monthly retainer, under which he handles all site maintenance. Tell him I sent you!
Personal Favorites & Self-Care Resources for Therapists
Because a regulated nervous system starts with a supported therapist!
Fullscript (Educational Plan): As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I do not prescribe or sell supplements. Any educational content shared through Fullscript is for informational purposes only and should be discussed with your medical team before purchase and use.
Through EndoKin Collective, Shakira partners with Fullscript to help reduce the cost of high-quality supplements, making essential support more accessible for women navigating endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain. I also use Fullscript to create educational plans that promote mind-body wellness, such as my Estrogen Balance & Anti-Inflammatory supplement recommendations for clients managing endometriosis and associated chronic inflammation.
Two Moons Health: Founded by a doctor and a lawyer, this women’s health supplement company focuses on hormone balance, energy, and focus. All products are organic, third-party tested, vegan, and gluten-free. No synthetics, dyes, or colors as well.
Use code SHAKIRASUMMER25 for $40 off your first order at Two Moons Health.
Daea Endo Support Supplement: For women who are overwhelmed by countless pills and powders, Daea can condense your routine into an easy powder that you can mix with your favorite drink. Daea was created by a team that includes a woman living with endometriosis, a former USDA research scientist, and a board-certified OB/GYN. It is a daily superpowder with 14 carefully dosed, evidence-informed nutrients specifically formulated to address inflammation, hormone dysregulation, and cycle health in people with endometriosis. It is also third-party tested, which in the supplement world is important since it signals the purity and integrity of the supplements.
Henry Rose: EWG verified perfume! Need I say more? If you are aware that perfumes are endocrine disruptors that promote fibroids, heavy bleeding, and feed diseases like endometriosis, you are probably just as excited as I am to learn about a non-toxic perfume. My signature scent is Dave! You can use my link to get 15% off your first order.
Nature’s Ego: One of my favorite natural hair care brands. I cannot recommend their products enough! All natural, all clean, and super moisturizing! My favorite products are their Onion Conditioner, Honey Deep Conditioner, and Rosemary Deep Conditioner!

Thorne: As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I do not prescribe or sell supplements. Any educational recommendations shared through Thorne are for informational purposes only and should be discussed with your medical team before purchase and use.

Sweet Bee Organics – a modern-day apothecary creating organic, handmade wellness products designed to support everyday rituals, including skincare, body care, and seasonal self-care staples. Founded by Hollie King, the brand was born from a search for cleaner, non-toxic options for her family and has grown into a community-centered shop rooted in holistic wellness and nature-inspired living. Explore their products and journal for gentle, nourishing ideas to support your mind, body, and home. I highly recommend the Pure Pits-Organic Deodorant, Wild Yam Balm and Sweet Magnesium Balm.
AI Resources for Therapists
Claude ai: Claude is my personal assistant and makes being a business owner a breeze. I highly recommend! If you are concerned about the ethics of using ai, you can read my blog on how I use ai ethically in my practice. Claude’s CEO is very vocal about ethics and harm ai can cause and how he works to mitigate this with his ai model. Also, as best practice, never enter PHI or use this type of ai to assist you with writing progress notes and treatment plans. But Claude can help you to make wonderful infographics and handouts for your client work, no PHI needed!
Gemini: If you have Google Workspace like me, this is included in your subscription. I only use it for AEO, SEO, and GEO for my website since it is powered by Google Search. You can use it for much more, but I refrain from doing so because of Google’s questionable ethics at times.
Bible Note: An AI app that can take any sermon medium (YouTube, recorded, or written), create a summary of pain points with Scripture references, reflection questions, devotionals, and more! Kiss, taking notes during church goodbye!

Shakira K. O’Garro, LMHC-D, LPC, LPCC, NCC, is a Black Christian therapist specializing in medical trauma, chronic illness, and supporting Christians through a crisis of faith. Living with severe stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis taught her how deeply physical pain, medical dismissal, and suffering can impact your mental health and relationship with God. Her work centers Black Christian women who are exhausted from being gaslit by healthcare systems and told to just “pray harder” when their bodies are breaking down. Shakira (and her clinicians) offer therapy that honors your pain, validates your experience, and integrates your faith without spiritual bypassing.
