Do you love God and want a Godly partnership, but dating leaves you anxious, guarded, or emotionally exhausted? Maybe you overthink every text, fear rejection, feel triggered by inconsistency, or wonder if you’re “too much” or “not enough.” If dating has started to feel overwhelming and stressful instead of a pathway to connection, you are not alone, and you don’t have to just “pray more” and “put yourself out there” more.
This EMDR-based group is designed for single Christian women who want to date from a place of peace, clarity, and confidence. Using the GREP2 (Group Resource Enhancement Protocol) and GTEP (Group Traumatic Episode Protocol), we will target the triggers and emotional roots of dating anxiety, such as having experienced past heartbreak, ghosting, rejection, betrayal, church hurt, purity shame, and other experiences that taught you dating is hard and scary. You’ll learn to recognize triggers, calm your nerves, and respond to dating situations with wisdom and control instead of panic.
In this group, you can expect:
-
Faith-honoring, trauma-informed EMDR group work (GREP2 + GTEP)
-
Tools to reduce spiraling thoughts, anxiety, and avoidance
-
Support for boundaries, discernment, and self-trust in dating
-
A compassionate space to process setbacks without shame
-
Grounding practices you can use before/after dates and tough conversations
This group may be a good fit if you:
-
Feel anxious about being seen, chosen, or rejected
-
Notice shutdown, people-pleasing, or over-thinking while dating
-
Struggle to trust yourself or God in the waiting
-
Tired of talking about the woes of dating and just want to feel more confident and grounded.
No venting required! Come as you are. This is a space to heal, build emotional resilience, and move toward healthy connection with more confidence. Book a consultation to schedule a screening call.

Shakira K. O’Garro, LMHC-D, LPC, LPCC, NCC, is a Black Christian therapist specializing in medical trauma, chronic illness, and supporting Christians through a crisis of faith. Living with severe stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis taught her how deeply physical pain, medical dismissal, and suffering can impact your mental health and relationship with God. Her work centers Black Christian women who are exhausted from being gaslit by healthcare systems and told to just “pray harder” when their bodies are breaking down. Shakira (and her clinicians) offer therapy that honors your pain, validates your experience, and integrates your faith without spiritual bypassing.
